About the
Museum
›The Hanse‹ is the most important and powerful trading network of the Middle Ages. With its strategic position in the Baltic Sea region, the city of Lübeck developed into one of the most important trading partners of this alliance. As a pioneer of our modern understanding of the economy, the Hanse still shapes the politics, economy and society of the European continent today.
As a cultural and educational centre, the EHM is one of the best addresses for Hanse history worldwide. In cooperation with the affiliated ‘Research Centre for the History of the Hanse and the Baltic Sea Region’, the latest findings are made accessible.
