BDA Prize 2019 for Heller and Hansemuseum

7.11.2019: Studio Andreas Heller Architects & Designers receives the award of the Association of German Architects, BDA Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein for the European Hanse Museum. In addition to the integration of the new building into the castle hill, the jury praised how “naturally” the historic castle monastery is integrated into the museum. The “mixture of introversion and openness” represents the spirit of the Hanse very well. The “calm composition of the building masses” with the outer facade of handmade clinker bricks and the “formulation of a gabled house with a four-pass ornament in the facade” are emphasized, which “at the southwestern end of the building ensemble creates a close alliance with the adjacent town houses”. Conclusion of the committee: “All in all, a successful urban planning intervention was created”. The BDA Prize, which is awarded every four years, is presented jointly to clients and architects for exemplary, special architectural achievements.
